We Stuffed The Trailer at DeYoung’s
Monday, March 22, 2010
Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day. Like many small cities, downtown Woodinville was bustling with the usual traffic, but also with lots of people out walking. DeYoung’s is situated right on the main drag and visitors to the Hope For Horses information booth were non-stop -- people walking their dogs, families on their way to sports events, a man who designs hand-held ultrasound equipment, even a deputy sheriff and an Army recruiter stopped to talk and leave donations. Lots of old friends stopped by too - fosters and adopters, neighbors, a former employee, even the former manager of our favorite local bookstore.
Abby and Brody were a big hit (as usual), and allowed kids of all ages, sizes, and nationalities to pet and talk to them.
A huge thanks is due to Hannah H, our high school intern who designed the event, Mel C and Deb S who helped design and distribute brochures, Margaret S and Tori H - current and former senior project volunteers, and all the other volunteers who spent the entire day answering questions, handling the horses, keeping things clean, and helping pack and unpack the corral and information booth.
And another huge thank you to DeYoungs Farm & Garden, who helped promote the event throughout the month, and who graciously answered questions and helped customers who came out to support Hope For Horses. They are a great store for anything garden, farm, or animal-related. And we encourage visitors to the Woodinville WA area to stop in and say hi to Greg and Joe and Dennis and all the other guys who work there.
Thanks again to everyone for your continued help and support.
The DeYoung family settled in Washington in the late 1800’s, and by 1925 were operating a General Store in Woodinville.
Today the Farm and Garden Center is a popular spot for gardening tools & equipment, and all kinds of feed for large and small animals.
